Annual S.C. Duck Stamp
Minnesota native Scot Storm has been selected as artist for the 2017-18 South Carolina State Duck Stamp and Print, a program of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. Stormísí painting of a pair of wigeon was commissioned by members of the S.C. Migratory Waterfowl Committee and will be featured on the stateís annual Migratory Waterfowl Stamp, as well as on the limited edition print series.
The program, now in its 37th year, is administered by the S. C. Department of Natural Resources. As specified by state law, funds derived from the sale of stamps, art prints and related artwork are used for waterfowl propagation projects directly providing waterfowl for the Atlantic Flyway.
Artist Scot Storm lives in Freeport, Minnesota with his wife and family. As a youngster, Storm discovered his talent for drawing, sketching and design. He attended North Dakota State University where he earned his degree in architecture. In 1987, as a self-taught artist, he entered the Minnesota Duck Stamp contest and placed second. Encouraged, he entered and won the Indiana Pheasant Stamp competition in 1991.
Stormís interest in art became such a passion, he decided to become a full time artist in 1999. Storm has sixteen Federal, State and Conservation Stamp wins. Highlights to his career include the 2004-05 Federal Duck Stamp, the 2005-06, 2014-15 & 2017-18 Ducks Unlimited International Artist of the Year and the 2010 & 2014 Pheasants Forever National Artist of the Year.
