“Black Duck in Anderson County”
by Jim Killen

33rd Annual S.C. Duck Stamp
Seventh of Artist Series Featuring Jim Killen

January 2013

The 2013 South Carolina Duck Stamp Print commemorates the first recorded waterfowl band recovery in North America. In 1909 pioneer conservationist Jack Miner of Kingsville, Ontario, began banding wild black ducks, one which was harvested in January 1910 by Dr. W. Bray in South Carolina at Anderson County's Rocky River.  Dr. Bray returned the tag to the engraved address “Box 43, Kingsville Ont” marking the first recording of a band and recovery on the continent.

This offering is the 33rd anniversary edition of the South Carolina Duck Stamp and Print series and features Jim Killen’s painting of a Boykin Spaniel, the state dog of South Carolina, with a Black Duck in Anderson County.
